Institut Laue-Langevin

The Institut Laue-Langevin is an internationally-financed scientific facility, situated in Grenoble, France. It is one of the world centres for research using neutrons. Founded in 1967 and honouring the physicists Max von Laue and Paul Langevin, the ILL currently provides the most intense neutron source in the world. A research reactor produces the neutrons which are guided into a suite of instruments and used to probe the structure and behaviour of many forms of matter by elastic and inelastic neutron scattering. The fundamental properties of the neutron are also investigated.

Das Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble ist ein internationales Forschungszentrum, das mit seinem Hochflussreaktor (HFR) die stärkste Neutronenquelle der Welt betreibt. Mit Strahlrohren und Neutronenleitern werden die Neutronen an über dreißig Experimentierplätze geführt. Jedes Jahr werden von zirka 1500 Gastforschern mehr als 800 Experimente, vor allem auf dem Gebiet der Neutronenstreuung, durchgeführt.

Институтът „Лауе-Ланжевен“ е европейски научен институт, разположен в Гренобъл, основан през 1967 от Франция и Германия. По-късно към него се присъединяват още 11 европейски държави. Носи името на големите физици Макс фон Лауе и Пол Ланжевен.
