Ingersoll, Ontario

Ingersoll (2006 population 12,000) is a town in Oxford County on the Thames River in southwestern Ontario, Canada. The nearest city is Woodstock, Ontario, but is also close to Tillsonburg, Ontario, just on the other side of Highway 401 along Highway 19.

Ingersoll ist eine Stadt in der Nähe des Flusses Thames im Südwesten der kanadischen Provinz Ontario. Die Bevölkerungszahl liegt bei zirka 10.977 (Stand 2001).Die Stadt im Oxford County wurde von Thomas Ingersoll gegründet, einem Königstreuen während der Zeit des amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieges zwischen 1775 und 1783, der aus den USA nach Kanada floh. Seine Tochter war Laura Secord; sie wurde 1813 im Britisch-Amerikanischen Krieg zur kanadischen Nationalheldin.
