The Indus Valley Civilization (IVC) was a Bronze Age civilization  (3300–1300 BCE; mature period 2600–1900 BCE) located in the western region of South Asia, and spread over what are now Pakistan, northwest India, and eastern Afghanistan. Flourishing in the Indus River basin, the civilization extended east into the Ghaggar-Hakra River valley and the upper reaches Ganges-Yamuna Doab; it extended west to the Makran coast of Balochistan and north to northeastern Afghanistan. The civilization was spread over some 1,260,000 km², making it the largest ancient civilization.

Die Indus-Kultur oder Indus-Zivilisation, teilweise auch nach Harappa, einem der Hauptausgrabungsplätze am Ravi, Harappa oder Harappa-Kultur genannt, war eine der frühesten städtischen Zivilisationen, die sich etwa in den Jahren 2800 v. Chr. bis 1800 v. Chr. entlang des Indus im Nordwesten des indischen Subkontinents entwickelte.

La civilisation de la vallée de l'Indus (5000 av. J.-C. – 1900 av. J.-C.) était une civilisation de l'Antiquité dont l'aire géographique s'étendait principalement le long du fleuve Sarasvati, rivière asséchée aux alentours de 2200 av. J.-C., et qui se situait entre les actuels Pakistan, Pendjab, Rajasthan et Sind, c'est-à-dire dans la zone de l'Indus actuel. Bien que probable, par le biais de ce qu'on appelle la religion harappienne, l'influence qu'elle a pu avoir sur la culture hindoue contemporaine n'est pas clairement établie.

Indus-Sarasvati (vanligare Induskulturen eller Induscivilisationen) är benämningen på den forntida högkultur som uppstod i området runt floden Indus omkring 2600 f.Kr.

Cywilizacja doliny Indusu zwana także Kulturą Indusu, Cywilizacją Indusu-Saraswati, Kulturą harappańską, Kulturą Mohendżo-Daro itp. - pierwsza historyczna cywilizacja na obszarze subkontynentu indyjskiego, rozwijająca się w okresie 3300-1300 p.n.e. (w swej szczytowej formie 2600-1900 p.n.e.), w indyjskiej epoce brązu. Zajmowała obszar wielkości 650 tys. - 1,5 mln km² (według różnych źródeł) i była najrozleglejszą spośród czterech sobie współczesnych cywilizacji starożytności (Egiptu, Mezopotamii, Chin). Jej stanowiska rozmieszczone są na całym terytorium współczesnego Pakistanu, w północno-zachodnich Indiach (Dżammu i Kaszmir, Radżastan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Pendżab) oraz we wschodnim Afganistanie. Pierwszego (przypadkowego) odkrycia związanego z jej historią dokonano w 1826 roku. Archeologami, którzy prowadzili dotyczące jej badania, byli m.in.: Alexander Cunningham, John Marshall, Mortimer Wheeler, George Dales, Jonathan M. Kenoyer oraz Richard Meadow. Dotychczas odkryto 1500-2600 (według różnych źródeł) stanowisk archeologicznych przypisywanych tej cywilizacji, spośród których jedynie 2% zostało gruntownie przebadanych. Główne z nich to: Amri, Balakot, Banawali, Bhagatrav, Chanhudaro, Daimabad, Dholavira, Dwarka (Dvaraka), Ganweriwala (Ganeriwala), Gola Dhoro, Harappa, Kot Bala, Kot Diji, Kalibangan, Lakhmirwala, Lothal, Mohendżo-Daro, Nausharo, Pir Shah Jurio, Pirak, Rakhigarhi, Rangpur, Rehman Dheri, Rojdi, Rupnagar, Shortugai, Sokhta Koh, Sothi, Sutkagen Dor (Sutkagan Dor) itd.
