Indochina

Indochina, or the Indochinese Peninsula, is a region in Southeast Asia. It lies roughly east of India, south of China. Note that the term Sino-Indian is used to describe things relating to India and China. (e.g. Sino-Indian relations). The term Indochina is exclusively used to denote this region. Historically, the countries of Southeast Asia received cultural influence from China and India, but to varying degrees. Many Southeast Asian countries are influenced mainly by the culture of India with a smaller influence from the culture of China. However, this is actually reversed in the culture of Vietnam where the main foreign influence is from the culture of China with a much smaller influence from India, largely via the Champa civilization that Vietnam conquered during its southward expansion.

L'Indochine ou péninsule indochinoise ou Asie du Sud-Est continentale est une péninsule du continent asiatique située entre la Chine et l'Inde. Elle est entourée à l'ouest par le Golfe du Bengale, la mer d'Andaman et le détroit de Malacca et à l'est par la mer de Chine méridionale. Traditionnellement, les bouches du Gange formaient sa limite occidentale. Elle comprend les pays et territoires suivants :la Birmaniele Cambodgele LaosSingapourla Thaïlandele Viêt Namla Malaisie péninsulaire, c'est-à-dire les États de Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Penang, Selangor et Terengganu, les districts fédéraux de Kuala Lumpur et Putrajaya.

Der Begriff Indochina wurde erstmals von dem dänisch französischen Geographen Conrad Malte-Brun (auch Malthe Konrad Bruun; 1775–1826) in seinem 1810 in Paris erschienenen Werk „Précis de la Géographie Universelle“ verwendet. Damit sollte der prägende kulturelle Einfluss Indiens und Chinas auf die Völker und Länder des kontinentalen Südostasien ausgedrückt werden.

Die Indochinesische Halbinsel ist eine Halbinsel in Teilbereichen Hinterindiens in Südostasien, welche dessen Festlandbereiche umfasst, die in das Südchinesische Meer hineinragen. Die Benennung ist abgeleitet von der Bezeichnung der früheren französischen Kolonie „Französisch-Indochina“, die weite Teile der Halbinsel umfasste.

Indochiny - nazwa stosowana dla określenia wschodniej części Półwyspu Indochińskiego (Azja Południowo-Wschodnia), obejmującej współcześnie państwa Laos, Kambodża (Kampucza) i Wietnam. Nazwa ta została nadana przez Europejczyków, którzy zwrócili uwagę na wpływ kultury chińskiej i hinduskiej na kulturę rodzimą tego obszaru.

Indochina is een geografische term voor dat deel van Azië dat bestaat uit het huidige Vietnam, Laos en Cambodja (het eigenlijke Indochina) en soms ook (oostelijk) Thailand.In het oosten en het zuiden wordt het begrensd door de Zuid-Chinese Zee (waartoe zowel de Golf van Tonkin als de Golf van Thailand worden gerekend). Ten noorden ligt het bergland van het Chinese Yunnan.Als Thailand niet wordt meegerekend tot Indochina dan komt de westgrens van het eigenlijke Indochina min of meer overeen met de rivier de Mekong.
