Indo-Aryan languages

The Indo-Aryan languages form a subgroup of the Indo-Iranian languages, which belong to the Indo-European family of languages. The term "Indic" refers to the same group without what some see as the negative connotations of "Aryan". Note that, unlike the generic adjective "Indian", "Indic" is the term used in the context of Indo-European linguistics, and is not strictly a geographical term; non-Indo-European languages spoken in India are not included in the term, while the Indo-Aryan superstrate in Mitanni, on the other hand, probably testifies to speakers of an Indic language that never settled on the Indian subcontinent.

Die indoarischen Sprachen sind ein vorwiegend in Südasien verbreiteter Zweig der indogermanischen Sprachfamilie. Zusammen mit den iranischen Sprachen bilden die indoarischen Sprachen innerhalb der indogermanischen Sprachfamilie eine gemeinsame indoiranische Untergruppe. Die insgesamt über 100 heute gesprochenen indoarischen Sprachen haben rund eine Milliarde Sprecher vorwiegend in Nord- und Zentralindien, in Pakistan, Bangladesch, Nepal und auf Sri Lanka und den Malediven. Zu den wichtigsten indoarischen Sprachen gehören Hindi, das nah verwandte Urdu, Bengali, weitere indische Regionalsprachen und die klassische Sprache Sanskrit. Mit den in Südindien gesprochenen dravidischen Sprachen sind die indoarischen Sprachen nicht verwandt, doch haben sie durch jahrtausendelangen Sprachkontakt zahlreiche gemeinsame Merkmale entwickelt.

Języki indyjskie (indoaryjskie) - podrodzina języków indoeuropejskich, które wraz z językami irańskimi oraz dardyjskimi tworzyły przed 1500 r. p.n.e. jedną wspólnotę językowo-kulturową (zobacz: języki indoirańskie). Języki indyjskie wyodrębniły się około 1500 r. p.n.e., a ich zasięg pokrywał się z zasięgiem dorzecza Indusu. Z tego okresu pochodzą najstarsze zabytki okresu staroindyjskiego (1500-500 r. p.n.e.) - Wedy spisane językiem wedyjskim. W okresie średnioindyjskim (500 r. p.n.e. - 1000 r. n.e.) język wedyjski przekształcił się w sanskryt klasyczny i jego potoczne warianty pali i prakryty. W okresie nowoindyjskim (po 1000 r.) ukształtowały się współczesne języki indyjskie, z których najważniejsze to język hindi, urdu, bengalski i pendżabski. Ogółem językami z tej grupy posługuje się ponad 700 mln osób.

De Indische talen of Indo-Arische talen is een zeer omvangrijke Indo-Europese taalgroep, waarvan de talen hoofdzakelijk worden gesproken in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, de Maldiven,  Sri Lanka en op vele andere plekken in de wereld, waar sprekers van Indische talen zich hebben gevestigd.
