The Incheon Metropolitan City (인천, 仁川, literally 'wise river' - formerly Inchon; named Jinsen during the time of Japanese rule) is located in northwestern South Korea. The city was home to just 4,700 people when Jemulpo port was built in 1883. Today 2.76 million people live in the city, making it Korea’s third most populous city after Seoul and Busan Metropolitan City. While people have inhabited the area from the New Stone Age, the city’s growth was assured in modern times with the development of its port due to its natural advantages as a coastal city.

Incheon ist eine Hafen- und Industriestadt an der Nordwestküste Südkoreas. Sie liegt in der Provinz Gyeonggi-do, ist aber seit dem 1. Juli 1981 politisch eine eigenständige Einheit. Incheon liegt 28 Kilometer westlich der Hauptstadt Seoul. Mit fast 2.7 Millionen Einwohnern ist die Stadt nach Seoul und Busan die drittgrößte in Südkorea.

Incheon est une ville portuaire coréenne située à 50 km à l'ouest de Séoul, sur la Mer Jaune. Elle comptait en 2000 2 466 338 habitants. Elle constitue, comme Séoul, une province spéciale à elle seule. Étant le port le plus proche de Séoul, elle draîne un important trafic . L'aéroport international ouvert en 2001 sur une île étendue artificiellement à proximité (voir Aéroport international d'Incheon) est aussi celui qui dessert Séoul.

Inchon (koreanska: 인천, Incheon) är en stad i nordvästra Sydkorea och är med sina 2,7 miljoner invånare landets tredje största. Staden är ett viktigt industricentrum, Seouls hamnstad och ligger inom huvudstadens storstadsområde. Incheon International Airport finns också i området. Inchon utgör en administrativ enhet, gwangyeoksi (ungefär storstad), på samma nivå som landets provinser. Under Koreakriget landsteg FN-styrkor i Inchon för att öppna en andra front. Tillsammans med Pusan är staden en av Sydkoreas två ekonomiska frizoner. De asiatiska spelen 2014 kommer att hållas i staden.

Inch'ŏn lub Inczhon - miasto na prawach metropolii i port morski w północno-zachodniej części Korei Południowej w pobliżu Seulu. Wcześniej nosiło nazwę Chemulpo (Czemulpo).
