 Grand Ayatullah Sayid Ruhullah Musawi Khomeini (Persian: روح الله موسوی خمینی Rūullāh Mūsawī Khumaynī (September 21 1900 – June 3 1989) was a senior Shi`i Muslim cleric, Islamic philosopher and marja (religious authority), and the political leader of the 1979 Iranian Revolution which saw the overthrow of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran. Following the revolution, Khomeini became the country's Supreme Leader—the paramount political figure of the new Islamic Republic until his death.

Rouhollah Mousavi Khomeini , aussi transcrit Khomeiny ou Khomeyni (17 mai 1902, Khomein - 3 juin 1989, Téhéran) était un dignitaire religieux chiite possédant les titres d'Ayatollah et de Seyyed, un homme politique iranien et le guide spirituel de la révolution islamique de 1979 qui renverse le Shah d'Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Il était également considéré comme Marja par de nombreux chiites après la mort de l'Ayatollah Borudjerdi. Il installe en Iran une théocratie chiite qu'il gouverne depuis son établissement jusqu'à sa mort en 1989, période où il occupe le poste de Guide de la révolution.

Ajatollah Ruhollah Musawi Chomeini (auch Khomeini; Persisch []) (* 1902 in Chomein; † 3. Juni 1989 in Teheran) war ein schiitischer Geistlicher und der politische und spirituelle Führer der Islamischen Revolution im Iran von 1978 bis 1979. Mit ihr stürzte er aus dem französischen Exil die Regierung von Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, dem damaligen Schah des Iran. Chomeini gilt als der Gründer der Islamischen Republik im Iran. Er war bis zu seinem Tod 1989 als Oberster Rechtsgelehrter deren Staatsoberhaupt.

Ruhollah al-Musawi al-Chomeini, (perski: ‏‏آیت‌الله روح‌الله خمینی‏ IPA: []) (urodzony 24 września 1902 - zmarł 3 czerwca 1989) - szyicki przywódca duchowny i polityczny, ajatollah, polityczny przywódca Iranu w latach 1979 - 1989.Pochodził z rodziny szyickich nauczycieli duchownych, która w XVIII wieku wyemigrowała z północnych Indii do Persji (obecnie Iran), a której najbardziej znanym przedstawicielem był Mir Hamid Husajn (zm. 1880), autor obszernej pracy na temat różnic między islamem szyickim a islamem sunnickim (Abaqat al-Anwar fi Imamat al-A'immat al-Athar).

L'ayatollah Ruhollah Mosavi Khomeyni (18 maggio 1900 - 4 giugno 1989) è stato il capo religioso e politico dell'Iran dal 1979 al 1989. Il suo governo fu di stampo religioso islamico e impose - secondo il giudizio storico di visione occidentale - uno stretto moralismo di linea fondamentalista. Il regime da lui instaurato inaugurò una linea di potere teocratico in Iran che persiste tuttora.
