The International Olympic Committee (French: Comité International Olympique) is an organization based in Lausanne, Switzerland, created by Pierre de Coubertin and Demetrios Vikelas on June 23 1894. Its membership is 205 National Olympic Committees.The IOC organizes the modern Olympic Games held in Summer and Winter, every four years. The first Summer Olympics organized by the International Olympic Committee was held in Athens, Greece, in 1896; the first Winter Olympics in Chamonix, France, in 1924. Through 1992, both Summer and Winter Olympics were held in the same year. Beginning in 1994, however, the IOC shifted the Winter Olympics to the even years between Summer Games, to help space the planning of the two events apart from one another.

Le Comité international olympique (souvent abrégé en CIO) est une organisation créée par Pierre de Coubertin en 1894, pour réinstaurer les anciens Jeux olympiques antiques, puis organiser cet événement sportif tous les quatre ans. Depuis 1981, c'est une « organisation internationale non gouvernementale à but non lucratif à forme d’association dotée de la personnalité juridique dont le siège est à Lausanne ».

Das Internationale Olympische Komitee (IOK; auch im Deutschen meist Verwendung der englischen Abkürzung IOC) ist eine nichtstaatliche Organisation, deren Zweck die Organisation und Betreuung der Olympischen Spiele ist. Rechtlich handelt es sich um einen im Handelsregister eingetragenen Verein im Sinne von Art. 60 ff. des Schweizerischen Zivilgesetzbuches und hat seit 1915 seinen Sitz in Lausanne. Es hält die Schirmherrschaft über die Olympische Bewegung und beansprucht alle Rechte an den Olympischen Symbolen, wie Fahne, Mottos und Hymne, sowie an den Spielen selbst. Seine Hauptverantwortung liegt in der Betreuung und Organisation der Sommer- und Winterspiele.

Międzynarodowy Komitet Olimpijski (MKOl) (fr. Comité International Olimpique CIO) jest międzynarodową organizacją założoną z inicjatywy barona Pierre'a de Coubertina 23 czerwca 1894 r. w Paryżu. Kieruje ona ruchem olimpijskim organizując co 2 lata igrzyska olimpijskie (na przemian zimowe i letnie). MKOl jest stowarzyszeniem mającym międzynarodową osobowośc prawną i status organizacji pozarządowej. Stałą siedzibą MKOl jest Lozanna w Szwajcarii.

Il Comitato Olimpico Internazionale, noto anche come CIO (dalle iniziali del nome originale francese Comité International Olympique), è un'organizzazione non governativa creata da Pierre de Coubertin nel 1894, per far rinascere i Giochi Olimpici dell'Antica Grecia attraverso un evento sportivo quadriennale dove gli atleti di tutti i paesi potessero competere fra loro. Dal 2001 è presieduto dal belga Jacques Rogge.
