IGALA
The International Gender and Language Group, or IGALA, is an international interdisciplinary organization that is committed to the promotion and support of research on language, gender, and sexuality. The association was formed in 1999, and developed out of the graduate-student-run Berkeley Women and Language Group. IGALA holds a biannual conference and publishes the academic journal Gender and Language.

The Igala are an
ethnic group of
Nigeria. Igala practice a number of different religions, including
animism,
Christianity, and
Islam.The home of the Igala people is situated east side of the
river Niger and
Benue confluence and astride the Niger to form the confluence in
Lokoja.Igala land is approximately between latitude 6°30 and 8°40 north and longitude 6°30 and 7°40 east and covers an area of about 13,665 square kilometers” (Oguagha P.A 1981) the Igala population is estimated at two million, they are the major ethnic group in present Kogi State but can be found in Delta and Edo States of Nigeria. They are Africans belonging to the Kwa sub groups of the Niger Congo language family.

rio Níger, área donde confluye con el río Benue, en Lokoja. La zona se encuentra aproximadamente entre las latitudes 6°30 y 8°40 Norte, y longitudes 6°30 y 7°40 Este, con una superficie aproximada de 13.665 kilómetros cuadrados. La población total de la etnia se estima en 2 millones de personas, que pertenecen al subgrupo Kwa de las familias lingüisticas Niger-Congo.
