ICQ

ICQ is an instant messaging computer program, owned by Time Warner's AOL subsidiary. ICQ was first developed by the Israeli company Mirabilis. The first version of the program was released in November 1996. The name ICQ is an oronym on the phrase "I seek you".

ICQ (Homophon für „I seek you“, zu deutsch „Ich suche dich”) ist ein Instant-Messaging-Programm von AOL. Zusammen mit dem AOL Messenger hatte ICQ im Oktober 2005 mit 56 % Marktanteil die Marktführerschaft im Bereich Instant Messaging. Das verwendete proprietäre Netzwerkprotokoll heißt OSCAR.

ICQ – pierwszy komunikator internetowy wyprodukowany w listopadzie 1996 roku przez izraelską firmę Mirabilis. Jest to narzędzie pozwalające na bezpośredni kontakt z innymi użytkownikami tej usługi. Nazwa ICQ jest swoistą grą słów – pochodzi od wyrażenia "I Seek You" (dosłownie Szukam Cię).

ICQ è il primo programma per computer di instant messaging nel mondo, creato da Mirabilis, una compagnia start-up Israeliana fondata a Tel-Aviv. Il programma venne rilasciato per la prima volta nel novembre del 1996. Il nome è un gioco di parole sulla frase "I seek you" (io ti cerco). In Italia comunque è universalmente letto con l'alfabeto italiano I-CI-QU.
