The striker became topscorer of the J-League in 1999 and has represented South Korea on three World Cups. Hwang was one of South Korea's most feared strikers of th 1990's. He was topscorer in the Asian qualifying tournament for the 1990 World Cup while still at university, and played two matches on that tournament. The world will remember him best, though, for the fabulous goal he scored against Germany at USA 1994. Hwang was topscorer at the 1994 Asian Games, thanks largely to eight goals against Nepal. He moved to Japanese J-League in 1998. The World Cup 2002 in Japan and South Korea will be his final aim, and then it's been enough, according to Hwang.
