Hungarians, also known as Magyars , are a nation and ethnic group who speak Hungarian and are primarily associated with Hungary. There are around 14-15 million Hungarians, of whom 10 million live in today's Hungary (as of 2011). About 2.2 million Hungarians live in areas that were part of the Kingdom of Hungary before the 1918-1920 dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and the Treaty of Trianon, and are now parts of Hungary's seven neighbour countries, especially Romania, Slovakia, Serbia and Ukraine. Significant groups of people with Hungarian ancestry live in various other parts of the world, most of them in the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Canada and Australia. Unlike the Hungarians living on the former territory of pre-1918-20 Kingdom of Hungary, only some of the ethnic Hungarians in other areas preserve the Hungarian language and traditions. The Hungarians can be classified into several subgroups according to local linguistic and cultural characteristics; subgroups with distinct identities include the Székely, the Csángó, the Palóc, and the Jassic people.

Die Magyaren, auch Ungarn (Singular im Ungarischen magyar [], Plural magyarok []) sind ein Volk in Mitteleuropa.

Les Magyars sont le principal groupe ethnique constitutif de la Hongrie. Leur dénomination usuelle est d'ailleurs celle de Hongrois, mis à part dans certains textes historiques où le terme de hongrois regroupait tous les sujets du royaume de Hongrie, indépendamment de leur origine ethnique (et donc pas seulement les Magyars). Le terme latin natio hungarica désignait de la même manière toute la noblesse de Hongrie, quelle que fût son origine.

Ungrare (på ungerska magyar) är ett folkslag som främst bor i dagens Ungern samt i dess grannländer. Ungrarna talar i allmänhet ungerska.

Węgrzy albo Madziarzy (węg. l.poj.: magyar, l.mn.: magyarok), naród, liczący w sumie ok. 14,5 mln, w tym na Węgrzech 10,5 mln, pozostałe ok. 4 mln tworzy mniejszości w Rumunii (Siedmiogród), Serbii (Wojwodina), Słowacji, Słowenii, Ukrainie (rejon Karpat) i Austrii. Jedna z grup mniejszości węgierskojęzycznej zamieszkującej rumuński Siedmiogród zwana jest Szeklerami (węg. l.poj.: Székely, l.mn.: Székelyek). Część badaczy skłania się ku poglądowi, że Szeklerzy są nie Węgrami, lecz potomkami Hunów.
