Hugo Wolf
Hugo Wolf (13 March 1860 – 22 February 1903) was an Austrian composer of Slovene origin, particularly noted for his art songs, or lieder. He brought to this form a concentrated expressive intensity which was unique in late Romantic music, somewhat related to that of the Second Viennese School in concision but utterly unrelated in technique.

Hugo Filipp Jakob Wolf, dit Hugo Wolf, né à Windischgrätz (aujourd'hui Slovenj Gradec en Slovénie) le 13 mars 1860 et mort à Vienne le 22 février 1903, est un compositeur autrichien d'ascendance slovène.

Hugo Wolf
Jego rodzice byli narodowości słoweńskiej i nosili nazwisko Vouks. Uczył się w Grazu, St. Paul i Mariborze. W 1875 wstąpił do konserwatorium w Wiedniu.
Komponował głównie pieśni (ok. 300). W latach 1889–1890 opublikował cykle pieśni do słów poetów Eduarda Mörikego, Josepha Eichendorffa i J. W. Goethego. Napisał także opery Der Corregidor (1896) i niedokończoną Manuel Venegas (1897), muzykę do dramatu H. Ibsena oraz muzykę instrumentalną. Dzięki gronu przyjaciół i zwolenników jego sztuki, którzy zorganizowali szereg wieczorów kompozytorskich, występował w Wiedniu, Tybindze, Mannheim i Berlinie.
