Hrodna
Hrodna (; ; ; ; Grodne; ; ) is a city in
Belarus. It is located on the
Neman River, close to the borders of
Poland and
Lithuania (about 15 km and 30 km away respectively). It has 317,366 inhabitants (
2005 estimate). It is the capital of
Hrodna voblast (province) and Hrodna raion (district).Records indicate it has been in existence for at least 900 years. Not surprising given its location, Hrodna has a significant Polish and Lithuanian heritage and lay for a time within these realms historically.

Biélorussie. Hrodna est située à une quinzaine de kilomètres de la
Pologne à 53°40′N 23°50′E. Elle est divisée en deux districts : le district Leninski et le district Kastrychnizki. La ville est construite sur le fleuve
Niémen et compte 317 000 habitants (recensement de 2005).Elle est en majorité peuplée de Biélorusses (62,3 %), de Polonais (24,8 %), de Russes (10,1 %), d'Ukrainiens (1,8 %), de Lituaniens (0,4 %) et de Tatars (0,2 %). Les autres nationalités constituent 0,4 % de la population.

russ. /Grodno, poln. Grodno, litauisch Gardinas, deutsch Garten; älter weißruss. Горадня/Horadnja oder Гародня/Harodnja; jiddisch Grodne) ist eine Stadt in
Weißrussland an der
Memel, nahe der Grenze zu
Polen und
Litauen. Hrodna hat 317.366 Einwohner (2005), darunter eine große polnische Minderheit (vor dem
Zweiten Weltkrieg polnische und
jüdische Bevölkerungsmehrheit). Früher führte durch Hrodna eine der wichtigsten Eisenbahnverbindungen der
Sowjetunion von
Vilnius nach
Warschau. Bedingt durch die politische Situation in Weißrussland umgeht man aber inzwischen weißrussisches Gebiet. Hrodna ist Partnerstadt von
Minden in
Westfalen.
