Rear Admiral The Honourable Horace Lambert Alexander Hood (

) was a young and respected admiral in

. He was the great-great-grandson of Admiral
Samuel Hood, 1st Viscount Hood

Samoan Hurricane
. He served as second-in-command to Beatty of the gunboat flottila during the
Sudan campaign
In World War I, Hood took part in the defence of
Flanders
and the
Battle of the Yser
. He commanded the Third Battlecruiser Squadron of Sir
John Jellicoe
's
Grand Fleet
. He died along with all but six of the crew of his
flagship
Invincible
when she exploded at the
Battle of Jutland
