Homer Simpson

Homer Simpson is also a character in the book and film The Day of the Locust. Homer Jay Simpson is a fictional character in the animated television series The Simpsons voiced by Dan Castellaneta. He has become a very popular cartoon character along with the rest of his family, and his catchphrase, the annoyed grunt "D'oh!", has been included in the Oxford English Dictionary. Homer is named after the father of the show's creator Matt Groening.

Homers geestelijk vader is Matt Groening, bedenker van de The Simpsons. Homer is een geliefd tekenfilmfiguur en Amerikaans icoon. De hem kenmerkende geërgerde grom "D'oh!" is opgenomen in het Oxford English Dictionary. "Woo-hoo!" en "Yello!" zijn andere uitspraken die tot zijn repertoire behoren.Homer is vernoemd naar en losjes gebaseerd op Matt Groenings vader. Zijn stem was oorspronkelijk afgeleid van die van Walther Matthau.
