History of Tea

Tea is a beverage made by steeping processed leaves, buds, or twigs of the tea bush, Camellia sinensis, in hot water for a few minutes. The processing can include oxidation, heating, drying, and the addition of other herbs, flowers, spices, and fruits. The four basic types of true tea are (in order from most to least processed): black tea, oolong tea, green tea, and white tea. The term "herbal tea" usually refers to infusions of fruit or of herbs (such as rosehip, chamomile, or jiaogulan) that contain no Camellia sinensis . (Alternative terms for herbal tea that avoid the word "tea" are tisane and herbal infusion.) This article is concerned exclusively with preparations and uses of the tea plant C. sinensis.

Der Tee (von chin. 荼, vgl. 茶 „chá“) ist ein heißes Aufgussgetränk, das aus Pflanzenteilen (Blättern, Knospen, Blüten, Stängel u.ä.) der Teepflanze zubereitet wird.Tee enthält bis zu 3% Koffein, welches zur Stoffklasse der Alkaloide gehört. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurde dieser Wirkstoff im Tee noch als Thein/Teein bezeichnet. Auch im Deutschen schrieb sich das Getränk damals noch Thee.

Ein Tee im Golfsport ist ein kleiner Stift aus Holz oder Kunststoff, der beim Abschlag in den Boden gesteckt wird und auf den dann der Ball aufgelegt (aufgeteet) werden darf. Der Ball liegt somit erhöht und ist einfacher zu spielen. Das Aufteen des Balles ist normalerweise nur beim ersten Schlag einer jeden Spielbahn erlaubt. Der Abschlagsort an sich, die rechteckige und meistens erhöhte Rasenfläche zu Beginn jeder Spielbahn, wird ebenfalls Tee genannt.

Herbata – wiecznie zielona roślina z rodzaju kamelia, pochodząca z południowo-wschodniej Azji. Uprawia się krzewy herbaty chińskiej (Camellia sinensis, syn. Thea sinensis - polska nazwa herbata pochodzi od łac. herba thea), drzewa herbaty asamskiej (Camellia assamica) oraz ich mieszańce – herbatę gruzińską i cejlońską. Uprawiana w wielu krajach strefy zwrotnikowej, także poza Azją, dla pączków i liści, z których po uprzednim przygotowaniu (suszenie, czasami fermentacja) przyrządza się napar o tej samej nazwie. Nazwą „herbata” określa się również napary z innych ziół, np. herbata rumiankowa, herbata paragwajska, herbata Rooibos.

Il tè è un notissimo infuso (o tisana) ricavato dalle foglie (spesso miscelate con altre spezie, erbe o essenze) di una pianta legnosa, la Camellia sinensis che viene coltivata principalmente in Cina, India, Sri Lanka, Giappone e Kenya.La parola tè deriva dall'inglese tea, ed a sua volta dalla pronuncia dialettale t'e della parola cha (茶) in Amoy - 廈門 Xiamen, Fujian - lingua usata nella Cina meridionale. Da quest'ultima pronuncia cinese derivano, con lievi varianti, le parole per tè in arabo, persiano, turco, giapponese e russo nonché, tutto sommato, lo stesso inglese. In portoghese, invece, deriva direttamente dalla parola cha.
