Bill Hilf is General Manager of Platform Strategy at
Microsoft, and director of Microsoft's work with
open-source projects. Hilf previously worked at
IBM where he led their
Linux technical strategy. He has had a high public profile, including a
Slashdot interview, speeches at events such as
LinuxWorld, posts on the recently launched Microsoft Open Source Software Lab blog and work promoting
Windows PowerShell and the
Unix support in Windows Server 2003 R2.Hilf has made a number of controversial statements with regard to
Linux and the Open Source community, claiming that "The Free Software movement is dead. Linux doesn't exist in 2007"
