Hestia

In Greek mythology, virginal Hestia (ancient Greek ) is the goddess of the hearth, of the right ordering of domesticity and the family, who received the first offering at every sacrifice in the household. In the public domain the hearth of the prytaneum or town hall functioned as her official sanctuary. With the establishment of a new colony, flame from Hestia's public hearth would be carried to the new settlement.

Dans la mythologie grecque, Hestia (en grec ancien  / Hestía) est la divinité du feu sacré et du foyer. Elle est la fille aînée de Cronos et de Rhéa, sœur de Zeus, Poséidon, Hadès, Héra et Déméter. Hestia appartient à la génération des douze grandes divinités de l'Olympe (quoique sa présence dans le canon olympien soit variable).

Hestia (griech. Εστία) ist eine Göttin der antiken griechischen Mythologie, des Familien- und Staatsherdes, des Herd- und Opferfeuers und der Familieneintracht, eine der zwölf oberen Gottheiten. Sie war die älteste Tochter des Kronos und der Rheia, Schwester des Zeus, wurde von ihrem Vater verschlungen, aber durch die List ihrer Mutter gerettet.

Hestia (gr.  – "ognisko domowe") – w  mitologii greckiej córka Kronosa i Rei, siostra Zeusa i Hery, oraz Posejdona i Hadesa. Ślubowała dziewictwo, jak Atena i Artemida. Opiekunka ogniska domowego, podróżnych, nowożeńców i sierot. Każde nowo narodzone dziecko, piątego dnia po urodzeniu, obnoszono dookoła ogniska oddając je Hestii w opiekę. Matka panny młodej rozpalała pierwszy raz ogień w nowym domu płomieniem pochodzącym z jej świątyni. Gość przychodząc do domu, gdzie nie jest mile widziany, musiał złapać się krawędzi ogniska. Odtąd gospodarze nie mogli mu nic zrobić.

Estia, nella mitologia greca, era la dea del fuoco che arde in ogni focolare rotondo.Esiodo la indica come figlia primogenita di Crono e di Rea, la più anziana nella prima generazione degli dèi dell’Olimpo. Suoi fratelli e sorelle, in ordine di nascita, sono: Demetra, Era, Ade, Poseidone e Zeus.Estia è la meno conosciuta fra le divinità più importanti dell’antica Grecia. Era tuttavia tenuta in grande onore, veniva invocata e riceveva le offerte migliori in ogni sacrificio che i mortali presentavano agli dèi.
