Skipper (butterfly)
A skipper or skipper butterfly is a butterfly of the family Hesperiidae. They are named after their quick, darting flight habits. There are more than 3500 recognized species of skippers and they occur worldwide, but with the greatest diversity in the Neotropical regions of Central and South America.

Dickkopffalter
Die Dickkopffalter (Hesperiidae) sind eine Familie der Schmetterlinge. Sie kommen weltweit, außer in Neuseeland, mit etwa 4000 Arten und derzeit über 560 Gattungen vor. Ihr Hauptverbreitungsgebiet sind die Tropen, besonders die Neotropis. Namensgebend für die Familie ist der breite Kopf der Tiere. Die Hesperiidae sind die einzige Familie der Überfamilie Hesperioidea.

Hesperiidae
Famille de Lépidoptères constiuée par des petits papillons robustes, qui possèdent une grosse tête et un torax élargi et qui se différentient des autres familles de papillons par les caractères suivants:
  • antennes très séparées à la base, généralemente terminées en pointe et recourbées en forme de crochet.
  • les veines de l'aile antérieure ne présentent aucune ramification. Toutes partent de la base de l'aile ou de la cellule et atteignent le bord de l'aile sans se diviser. Ils possèdent sur cette aile 5 veines radiales, qui partent toutes de la cellule.
  • les chenilles, cylindriques et avec une grosse tête accentuée par un cou étroit, vivent protégées dans des feuilles qu'elles enroulent et fixent avec des fils de soie.

Tjockhuvuden (Hesperiidae) är en familj i ordningen fjärilar och den enda familjen i överfamiljen Hesperioidea. Hittills är omkring 3 500 arter över hela världen kända (utom på Nya Zeeland och Antarktis). I Sverige finns 12 arter.
