Hepatic encephalopathy
Hepatic encephalopathy (sometimes hepatoencephalopathy) is a potentially reversible neuropsychiatic abnormality in the setting of
liver failure, whether chronic (as in
cirrhosis), or
acutely. It can be diagnosed only after exclusion of other neurological, psychiatric, infectious and metabolic etiologies.
