A Heliostat is a device that tracks the movement of the
sun. It is typically used to orient a
mirror, throughout the day, to reflect sunlight onto a target-receiver. Plastic or even steel can be melted if enough mirrors are aimed at one spot.Cost-effectiveness hinges on a simple question: Does the primary axis aim directly at the target-receiver? If not, the cost may be prohibitive.Mass-production will reduce costs, perhaps someday to as low as $18/sq.ft. of motorized mirror.
