Heckler & Koch MP5

The MP5 is a 9 mm submachine gun of German design, developed in the 1960s by a group of engineers from the West German arms manufacturer Heckler & Koch GmbH (HK). The company, motivated by the success of the G3 rifle developed a group of small arms consisting of four types of firearms (all based on the G3 design layout), where the first type was chambered in 7.62 x 51 mm NATO rifle cartridge, the second – using the 7.62 x 39 mm M43 round, third – the intermediate 5.56 x 45 mm NATO caliber and the fourth type – chambering the 9 x 19 mm Parabellum pistol cartridge. The MP5 (short for Maschinenpistole 5) was created within the fourth group of firearms, initially known as the HK54.

<references /> Le MP5 (Maschinenpistole 5) est un pistolet mitrailleur allemand produit par la firme Heckler&Koch. Développé à partir de 1964 sous le désignation de HK 54, il est adopté par la police et la douane allemande en 1966 sous le nom de MP5. Un grand nombre de services de polices et d'unités spéciales ont suivi l'exemple par la suite. Le MP5 a connu un grand nombre de versions et reste en production aujourd'hui encore. Conçu comme une version miniature du G3, il fonctionne avec un mécanisme de retardement de l'action par verrouillage par galets initialement développé pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale pour le fusil d'assaut stg45 et que l'on retrouve sur un grand nombre d'armes produites par Heckler&Koch après guerre. Le MP5 a été initialement produit en trois versions, le MP5A1 sans crosse et le MP5A2 avec une crosse fixe et le MP5A3 doté d'une crosse télescopique. Le MP5A1 est particulièrement rare et le MP5A3 est sans doute le plus répandu.

Die MP5 („Maschinenpistole 5“) ist eine Maschinenpistole des Waffenherstellers Heckler & Koch.Die Waffe wurde in den Jahren 1965/66 als Projekt HK54 – wie viele andere Waffen auch – aus dem  Sturmgewehr G3 entwickelt.Sie findet Verwendung in Deutschland u. a. bei den Polizeibehörden der Bundesländer (Schutzpolizei und SEK/MEK), der Bundespolizei und Spezialeinheiten des Zolls, sowie bei der Justiz (Strafvollzug). Bei der Bundeswehr wird sie jedoch kaum eingesetzt. Hauptsächlich das Kommando Spezialkräfte, die Kampfschwimmer, die Fernspähtruppe, die Fallschirmjägerspezialzüge sowie die Feldjäger nutzen sie.

L'Heckler & Koch MP5 è una pistola mitragliatrice (submachine gun) sviluppata dal produttore tedesco Heckler & Koch (HK) negli anni '60. La precisione, l'affidabilità e la vasta gamma di accessori e varianti hanno reso l'MP5 una delle armi preferite da militari e forze di polizia in tutto il mondo.Può essere usato in diverse modalità: colpo singolo, automatico con selezione delle raffiche di colpi, più le sicure.Inizialmente era pensato per utilizzare munizioni da pistola, Luger 9mm, poste in un caricatore curvo estraibile. Alla fine degli anni '90 furono introdotte le più potenti versioni da 10 mm Auto e calibro .40 Smith&Wesson, che però ottennero poco successo. L'MP5 ha un sistema di ritardo d'apertura a rulli, che risale ad un prototipo tedesco degli anni '40 noto come StG45(M) e in seguito sviluppato per il fucile CETME. Il progetto di questo sistema è stato realizzato dalla Mauser a partire da quello brevettato da Edward Stecke nel 1930 per l'MG42.
