Old Testament. The term Hebrew Bible is a generic reference to books of the
Bible, originally written in
Hebrew, of uncontroversial
canonicity. More precisely, it refers to a collection of specific ancient documents viewed as an organic
corpus. It includes the books of
Daniel,
Ezra and
Jeremiah, although they also contain
Aramaic; however, it excludes the book of
Baruch, originally composed in Hebrew, but with no record of ever being canonical within Judaism.
