Haredi Judaism

Haredi or Chareidi Judaism is the most theologically conservative form of Orthodox Judaism. A follower of Haredi Judaism is called a Haredi (Haredim in the plural). Haredi (חֲרֵדִי) is derived from charada (fear, anxiety), which could be interpreted as "one who trembles in awe of God" (cf. Isaiah 66:2,5).Haredi Jews, like other Orthodox Jews, consider their belief system and religious practices to extend in an unbroken chain back to Moses and the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai. As a result, they consider non-Orthodox denominations to be unjustifiable deviations from authentic Judaism, both because of other denominations' doubts concerning the divine revelation of the Written and Oral Torah, and because of their rejection of halakhic (or Jewish legal) precedent as binding.

Les haredim ou « Craignant-Dieu » (en hébreu חרדים), souvent appelés « ultra-orthodoxes » sont des juifs orthodoxes ayant une pratique religieuse particulièrement forte. En l’absence de toute autorité centralisée dans le Judaïsme, ils ont développé un certain nombre de courants, comme le hassidisme, chacun de ces courants interprétant les principes qui leurs sont communs avec quelques variantes.

Das ultraorthodoxe Judentum (hebr. יהדות חרדית jahadut charedit) ist ein Teil des orthodoxen Judentums, das an zahlreichen Traditionen sehr konservativ festhält. Die hebräische Bezeichnung für einen Anhänger dieser Richtung lautet חֲרֵדִי (charedi von charada – „Furcht“), Mehrzahl חֲרֵדִים (charedim), zu deutsch etwa „die Gottesfürchtigen“.

Het charedisch jodendom (Hebreeuws: יהדות חרדית - jahadoet charediet), vaak bekend onder de minder politiek correcte naam "ultra-orthodox", is één van de twee hoofdrichtingen binnen het orthodoxe jodendom. De andere richting is het modern-orthodox jodendom. De aanhangers van deze richtingen zijn voorstanders van de meest traditionele navolging van de joodse wetten. Chared betekent letterlijk vrezend, in dit verband "vrezend voor het woord van God" (chared lidvar Hashem).

יהדות חרדית המכונה בלועזית "אולטרה-אורתודוקסיה", היא זרם ביהדות האורתודוקסית, המתאפיין, לא רק בהקפדה רבה על שמירת ההלכה היהודית, אלא אף בתרבות שמרנית ייחודית, כזו שאינה נובעת ישירות מההלכה, אלא גובשה באופן עצמאי אצל החברה החרדית עצמה.
