Haran
In the
Bible, Haran (
Hebrew: הָרָן) was a son of
Terah, and brother of
Nahor and
Abram (later Abraham). Genesis records that Haran was the father of
Lot,
Milcah, and
Iscah (Genesis 11:27, 29).Haran (Charran) was a place-name in the ancient Near East. According to Genesis, Abram (later Abraham) lived in Haran for approximately 5 years before continuing on to
Canaan (current day Israel). The city of
Harran in modern southern
Turkey near the border with
Syria may be the city that Abraham and his father Terah settled in on the way to Canaan (Genesis 11:31), or it may have been near
Ur.

Terah et le frère d'
Abram et de
Nahor (fils de Terah) (à ne pas confondre avec
Nahor, père de Térah) Il serait né en 2056 av. J.-C.
Loth , Milca et Jisca sont ses enfants.Haran (orthographe hébraïque légèrement différente : חרן, souvent transcrit Charan) est un lieu biblique, où Abraham aurait séjourné lors de son grand périple depuis Ur vers la Terre promise. D'après la Genèse, Abram (ensuite surnommé Abraham) vécut à Haran pendant près de 5 ans avant de continuer vers Canaan. La ville de
Harran dans le sud de l'actuelle
Turquie près de la frontière avec la
Syrie pourrait bien y correspondre, mais on discute de savoir si elle ne serait pas plus proche de
Ur.

Haran
Haran (ook wel
Harran), is een naam die in de
Bijbel in het boek
Genesis voorkomt, en wordt gebruikt als plaatsnaam en als naam voor een van de broers van
Abraham. Abrahams broer Nahor woonde hier.
Eliëzer, Abrahams knecht ging hierheen voor een vrouw voor
Izak.De plaats Haran lag in het noorden van
Mesopotamië. Abraham woonde hier enige tijd nadat hij uit
Ur was vertrokken om naar
Kanaän te gaan.
