Hakan Arikan is a
Turkish footballer currently playing for
Beşiktaş J.K.. He plays as a
goalkeeper. He was called up for a friendly of the
Turkish national football team after an impressive performance for Ankaraspor in their 1-1 draw against
Galatasaray SK in the teams' first match of the 2006-2007
Turkcell Super League season, saving two penalties. He was transferred to Beşiktaş in exchange with
Ramazan Kurşunlu plus €700,000. On June 5 he made his debut for Turkey against Brazil in a lackluster 0-0 draw. Arikan has also been called up for Turkey against Romania August 22. Fatih Terim has also has pointed out that since all the other Turkish International goalkeepers recently had bad performances Hakan Arikan or Serdar Kulbilge will start for the match against Romania.
