HVAC may also stand for High-voltage alternating current HVAC (pronounced either "H-V-A-C" or, occasionally, "aitch-vak") is an initialism/acronym that stands for "heating, ventilation, and air conditioning". HVAC is sometimes referred to as "climate control" and is particularly important in the design of medium to large industrial and office buildings such as sky scrapers and in marine environments such as aquariums, where humidity and temperature must all be closely regulated whilst maintaining safe and healthy conditions within. In certain regions (e.g., UK) the term "Building Services" is also used, but may also include plumbing and electrical systems.  Refrigeration is sometimes added to the field's abbreviation as HVAC&R or HVACR, or ventilation is dropped as HACR (such as the designation of HACR-rated circuit breakers).

HVAC - akronim angielskiego wyrażenia Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning oznaczającego branżę inżynierii sanitarnej zajmującą się: ogrzewaniem (heating), wentylacją (ventilation) klimatyzacją (air conditioning).W Polsce nie ma dokładnego odpowiednika tego pojęcia, dlatego oznaczenia z języka angielskiego przyjęły się zarówno w publikacjach inżynierskich, jak i w mowie potocznej. Przyjęto dwa sposoby wymawiania tego skrótu: ejczwak (z ang.) lub hwac (z niem.) - obie wersje uznawane są za poprawne.Oprócz określenia branży budowlanej skrót HVAC służy również do określaniu zawodu (inżynier HVAC lub inaczej mechanical engineer) oraz rodzaju instalacji sanitarnych.

HVAC è un acronimo inglese, molto usato in tutti i campi dell'industria, che sta per Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, ovvero "riscaldamento, ventilazione e condizionamento dell'aria".L'insieme di queste tre tematiche, pur se di largo interesse in tutti i campi della progettazione (civile, automobilistica, aeronautica, ecc...) non trova una traduzione 'esatta' nella lingua italiana. Più spesso ci si riferisce a sinonimi, quali ad esempio condizionamento ambientale o comfort ambientale, con una leggera distinzione tra i due termini, in quanto il primo dovrebbe essere maggiormente indirizzato allo studio e alla progettazione degli impianti atti ad ottenere il comfort ambientale. Anche per questo, risulta di uso abbastanza comune il termine HVAC.
