HMS Sidon

Two ships of the British Royal Navy have been named HMS Sidon after Sidon, a city in Lebanon:HMS Sidon was a first-class paddle frigate designed by Sir Charles Napier. She was launched May 26, 1846.HMS Sidon (P259) was launched in September 1944, one of the third group of S-class submarines built by Cammell Laird & Co Limited, Birkenhead. She sank in Portland harbour in 1951 as a result of an accidental torpedo explosion.

HMS Sidon (nach der Stadt  Sidon im Libanon) war der Name zweier britischer Kriegsschiffe:HMS Sidon (1846) war eine Fregatte, die 1846 vom Stapel lief und 1864 abgewrackt wurde.HMS Sidon (P259) war ein U-Boot der Subtle-Klasse. Das Boot lief am 4. September 1944 vom Stapel und sank am 16. Juni 1955 bei einer Torpedoexplosion.
