Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a lentivirus (a member of the retrovirus family) that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), a condition in humans in which progressive failure of the immune system allows life-threatening opportunistic infections and cancers to thrive. Infection with HIV occurs by the transfer of blood, semen, vaginal fluid, pre-ejaculate, or breast milk. Within these bodily fluids, HIV is present as both free virus particles and virus within infected immune cells. The four major routes of transmission are unsafe sex, contaminated needles, breast milk, and transmission from an infected mother to her baby at birth (perinatal transmission). Screening of blood products for HIV has largely eliminated transmission through blood transfusions or infected blood products in the developed world.

Das Humane Immundefizienz-Virus (engl. Human immunodeficiency virus), zumeist abgekürzt als HIV oder auch bezeichnet als Menschliches Immunschwäche-Virus, ist ein Virus, das zur Familie der Retroviren und zur Gattung der Lentiviren gehört. Eine Ansteckung führt nach einer unterschiedlich langen, meist mehrjährigen Inkubationszeit zu AIDS (engl. Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, dt. „erworbenes Immundefektsyndrom“), einer derzeit noch unheilbaren Immunschwächekrankheit.

HIV+, de son vrai nom Pedro Peñas y Robles, musicien franco-espagnol qui a fait ses premières armes en tant que Disc Jockey résident dans divers clubs du sud de la France depuis 1988 (Guinguette du Rock, Trolleybus...) et s'est fait connaitre par ses soirées Armageddon (1993/2003) qui réunissaient un public gothique, fétichiste, industriel. Comme un hommage à ses études aux Beaux Arts à la fin des années 80 il se considère comme un simple plasticien travaillant sur de la matière sonore.

Le virus de l'immunodéficience humaine (VIH, HIV en anglais) est un rétrovirus infectant l'homme et le conduisant à plus ou moins long terme au syndrome d'immunodéficience acquise (Sida), qui est un état affaibli du système immunitaire qui le rend vulnérable à de multiples infections opportunistes.

Cirka 33 miljoner människor världen över beräknas vara smittade, och viruset har alltsedan sitt utbrott skördat runt 30 miljoner människoliv. Omkring sjutusen beräknas smittas varje dag och mer än 5 700 dör varje dag i hiv-relaterade sjukdomar. Tidigare kallades hiv för HTLV-III (human T-lymphotropic virus type III) eller LAV (lymphadenopathy-associated virus).

Atakuje głównie limfocyty T-pomocnicze (limfocyty Th). Wiriony mają budowę kulistą i otoczone są otoczką lipidową, zawierającą liczne białka.
