Gutenberg Bible

The Gutenberg Bible (also known as the 42-line Bible or the Mazarin Bible) is a printed version of the Latin Vulgate translation of the Bible that was printed by   Johannes Gutenberg, in Mainz, Germany in the fifteenth century. Although it is not, as often thought, the first book to be printed by Gutenberg's new movable type system, it is his major work, and has iconic status as the start of the "Gutenberg Revolution" and the "Age of the Printed Book".

Die Gutenberg-Bibel, wegen der 42 Zeilen auch „B42“ oder „B-42“ genannt, entstand zwischen 1452 und 1454 in Mainz. Sie wurde in der Druckerwerkstatt von Johannes Gutenberg gedruckt und gilt als eines der wichtigsten Bücher der Inkunabelzeit. Mit Hilfe des Angestellten Peter Schöffer, dem Geldgeber Johannes Fust und etwa weiteren 20 Mitarbeitern entstand eine Auflagenhöhe von ca. 180 Exemplaren. Neben den ca. 150 auf Papier gedruckten Bibeln gab es etwa 30 Ausgaben auf Pergament. Die B42 ist die Imitation einer Handschrift.

Biblia Gutenberga, Biblia Czterdziestodwuwierszowa, Biblia Mazarina – pierwsze wydawnictwo dziełowe w Europie wykonane za pomocą druku (przy użyciu czcionki ruchomej). Jest kompletnym wydaniem Pisma Świętego. Została przygotowana do druku i wydrukowana w latach 1452-1455 w Moguncji przez Johannesa Gutenberga, który był również jej wydawcą.

De Gutenbergbijbel is een door Johannes Gutenberg tussen 1452 en 1455 in Mainz gedrukte bijbel. Deze belangrijkste incunabel bevat de Latijnse tekst van de vulgaat. Het is het eerste boek dat tot stand kwam met behulp van de door Gutenberg ontwikkelde boekdrukkunst. De complete Gutenbergbijbel telt 1282 pagina's, meestal in twee banden gebonden. De bijbel staat ook bekend als de 42-regelige bijbel.
