Guinness

Guinness (pronounced ) is a dry stout that originated in Arthur Guinness's St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin, Ireland. The beer is based upon the porter style that originated in London in the early 1700s. It is one of the most successful beer brands in the world, being exported worldwide. The distinctive feature in the flavour is the roasted barley which remains unfermented. For many years a portion of the beer was aged to give a sharp lactic flavour, but Guinness has refused to confirm if this still occurs. The thick creamy head is the result of a nitrogen mix being added during the serving process. It is extremely popular with the Irish and is the best-selling alcoholic drink of all time in Ireland, where Guinness & Co. makes almost €2billion annually.

Guinness [] ist eine dunkle Biersorte (Stout) aus Irland. Es wird von der Brauerei Guinness hergestellt, die von Arthur Guinness im Jahr 1756 in Dublin gegründet wurde. Die Brauerei ist dort ein wichtiger Arbeitgeber. Seit 1759 wird Guinness am St. James’s Gate in Dublin und in zahlreichen weiteren Brauereien weltweit gebraut. Dabei wird je nach Zielland ein anderes Rezept verwendet. Im Guinness Store House kann man mehr über die Geschichte und den Herstellungsprozess erfahren. La Guinness è una famosa birra di tipo stout o di tipo porter prodotta dalla Arthur Guinness Son & Co., una fabbrica di birra irlandese fondata a Dublino nel 1759 da Arthur Guinness nella celebre St. James's Gate Brewery.La birra si presenta scura, quasi nera, con una schiuma chiara o bianca, molto compatta. Il gusto è decisamente amarognolo, corposo e facilmente riconoscibile.Prodotta con acqua, orzo maltato, orzo non maltato tostato, luppolo e lievito prende il colore e il sapore tipico da un particolare procedimento di tostatura e cottura dell'orzo. La birra inoltre è pastorizzata e filtrata, per un procedimento di produzione e fermentazione che dura circa 10 giorni.
