Groot-Brittannië
Groot-Brittannië (Engels: Great Britain, Cornisch: Breten Veur, Welsh: Prydain Fawr, Schots-Gaelisch: An Bhreatain, Schots: Graet Breetain) is een eiland in Europa, ten noordwesten van het vasteland en daarvan gescheiden door het Kanaal.

De oppervlakte bedraagt 229.979 km².

De naam Brittannië werd voor het eerst gebruikt door de Romeinen, die het eiland Britannia noemden. Het voorvoegsel 'groot' wordt gebruikt om het van Bretagne te onderscheiden, dat oorspronkelijk dezelfde naam had.
