Grindcore

Grindcore, often shortened to grind, is an evolution of crust punk, most commonly associated with death metal, a very different though similarly extreme style of music. Grindcore is characterized by heavily distorted, down-tuned guitars often showing crust punk-influenced riffs, blast beats by drummers, short songs, and a vocal style consisting of growls and higher-pitched vocals, often similar to those found in black metal. Lyrical concepts range from social and political issues to gore and horror to humor.

Grindcore ist eine Musikrichtung und gilt als die wohl extremste Spielart des Metal und Hardcore Punks im weitesten Sinne. „Grindcore“ kommt aus dem Englischen (engl. to grind „mahlen“ / to grind one's teeth „die Zähne knirschen“) und entwickelte sich aus dem Crustcore. Häufig wird von Außenstehenden vermutet, dass der Grindcore vom Death Metal abstammt, da diese Musikstile für ungeübte Höhrer sehr ähnlich klingen; dies ist aber falsch.
