Greece (, Ellada, historically in Katharevousa and , Hellas, and respectively), officially the Hellenic Republic (Ελληνική Δημοκρατία, Elliniki Dimokratia, ), is a country in Southern Europe, politically considered part of Western Europe. Athens is the capital and the largest city in the country (its urban area also including Piraeus). The population of the country is around 11 million.

Griechenland ( [], formell Ellás Ελλάς ‚Hellas‘; amtliche Vollform Ellinikí Dimokratía Ελληνική Δημοκρατία ‚Hellenische Republik‘, deutschsprachige Selbstbezeichnung Republik Griechenland) liegt in Südosteuropa und ist ein Mittelmeeranrainerstaat. Das griechische Staatsgebiet grenzt an Albanien, Mazedonien, Bulgarien und die Türkei. Griechenland gehört seit 1981 zur Europäischen Union.
