Greater London is the top-level administrative division of England covering London. It was created in 1965 and spans the City of London and the 32 London boroughs. This territory has the same boundaries as the London Government Office Region and the London European Parliament constituency. The region has by far the highest GVA per capita in the United Kingdom. It covers and had a 2009 mid-year estimated population of 7,753,600. The term Greater London was in use before 1965 to refer to a variously defined area, larger than the County of London and often similar to the Metropolitan Police District.

Das Verwaltungsgebiet (engl. Groß-London) umfasst die zentralen Städte City of London, City of Westminster sowie 31 weitere Stadtbezirke (London Boroughs); also jenes Gebiet, das allgemein als London bekannt ist. Die Fläche beträgt 1572 km², bei der Volkszählung 2001 wurden 7.172.036 Einwohner gezählt.

Wielki Londyn (ang. Greater London) – utworzony w 1965 roku obszar administracyjny o powierzchni 1595 km². Obejmuje on City oraz 32 dzielnice (gminy miejskie) nazywane po angielsku boroughs, 12 spośród nich wraz z City tworzy Londyn Wewnętrzny (Inner London), natomiast 20 pozostałych Londyn Zewnętrzny (Outer London). Wielki Londyn ma obecnie status jednego z 9 regionów, na które podzielone jest Anglia. Choć de facto tworzy spójny organizm miejski, nie ma formalnego statusu miasta w rozumieniu brytyjskiego prawa. Status taki mają za to dwie wchodzące w jego skład jednostki niższego rzędu: City i Westminster, co tworzy pewien paradoks.
