Grant County, West Virginia
Grant County is a county located in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of 2000, the population is 11,299. Its county seat is Petersburg6. Grant County was created from Hardy County in 1866 and named for General Ulysses Simpson Grant. After the American Civil War, there was an effort by former Confederates to name it 'Lee County' instead after General Robert E. Lee, but the effort proved fruitless.

Le comté de Grant est un comté des États-Unis situé dans l’État de Virginie-Occidentale. En 2000, la population était de habitants. Son siège est Petersburg. Le comté a été créé en 1866 à partir de parties du comté de Hardy et baptisé du nom de Ulysses Simpson Grant, général américain. Après la Guerre de Sécession, les Confédérés tentèrent, en vain, de renommer ce comté, comté de Lee du nom du Robert Lee, général confédéré.
