Golem

In Jewish folklore, a golem (גולם, sometimes, as in Yiddish, pronounced goilem) is an animated being created entirely from inanimate matter. In modern Hebrew the word golem literally means "cocoon", but can also mean "fool", "silly", or even "stupid". The name appears to derive from the word gelem (גלם), which means "raw material".

Le golem (גולם) est un être humanoïde, artificiel, fait d'argile, animé momentanément de vie par l'inscription sur son front (ou sa bouche, selon les versions) d'un verset biblique. Dans la culture hébraïque, la première apparition du terme golem se situe dans le Livre des Psaumes : (139, 16). C'est alors un être inachevé, une ébauche. Dans la kabbale, c'est une matière brute sans forme ni contours. Dans le Talmud, le golem est l'état qui précède la création d'Adam.

Golem (hebr. גולם golem) ist das hebräische Wort für „Ungeformtes“, aber auch für „Embryo“ (s. Psalm 139, 16). Im modernen Iwrit bedeutet das Wort golem „dumm“ oder „hilflos“. Die rabbinische Tradition bezeichnet alles Unfertige als Golem. Auch eine Frau, die noch kein Kind empfangen hat, wird als Golem bezeichnet (z.B. im Babylonischen Talmud, Traktat Sanhedrin 22b). In den Sprüchen der Väter ist „Golem“ die Bezeichnung für eine ungebildete Person („An sieben Dingen erkennt man den Ungebildeten, und an sieben Dingen den Weisen“).

Golem, (hebr. גולם) – w tradycji żydowskiej istota utworzona z gliny na kształt człowieka, ale pozbawiona duszy rozumiejącej neszama, a zatem również zdolności mowy.Słowo to w Biblii pojawia się tylko raz w Ps 139,16, który to werset tradycja żydowska wkłada w usta Adama. W tym miejscu bywa ono tłumaczone jako embrion, ale prawdopodobnie oznacza coś bezkształtnego, pozbawionego formy. W średniowieczu utożsamiano je z greckim pojęciem bezkształtnej materii - η υλη (hyle). Część tradycji żydowskiej traktuje również Adama przed obdarzeniem go bożym tchnieniem jako golema.
