Giurgiu

Giurgiu is the capital city of Giurgiu County,  Romania in the region once called Vlaşca. It is situated amid mud-flats and marshes on the left bank of the Danube. Three small islands face the city, and a larger one shelters its port, Smarda. The rich corn-growing land to the north is traversed by a railway to Bucharest, the first line opened in Romania, which was built in 1869 and afterwards extended to Smarda.

Giurgiu est la capitale du Judet de Giurgiu en Roumanie, judet appelé autrefois Vlasca. Elle est située au milieu des vasières et des marais sur la rive gauche du Danube. Trois petites îles lui font face dont la plus grande qui abrite son port, Smarda. Sur un sol riche où l'on cultive du blé au Nord passe le chemin de fer vers Bucarest, la première ligne ouverte en Roumanie, qui a été construite en 1869 et a été par la suite prolongée jusqu'à Smarda.

Giurgiu (deutsch veraltet: Zurz) ist eine Stadt in Rumänien und Hauptstadt des gleichnamigen Bezirks Giurgiu und liegt an der Donau. Mit der gegenüber am anderen Ufer der Donau liegenden bulgarischen Grenzstadt Russe ist sie über die Giurgiu-Russe-Freundschaftsbrücke verbunden. Die Stadt erreichte vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg internationale Bekanntheit als Haltepunkt des Orient-Expresses, der anfangs sogar in Giurgiu endete.

Giurgiu (bułg. Гюргево, tur. Yerkoekoe) – miasto w południowej Rumunii, nad Dunajem. Stolica okręgu Giurgiu. Mieści się tu największe przejście graniczne z Bułgarią – po drugiej stronie rzeki znajduje się przemysłowe miasto Ruse. Giurgiu liczy 67 670 mieszkańców. Merem miasta jest Lucian Illescu z Narodowej Partii Liberalnej.

Giurgiu (in bulgaro: Гюргево (Gyurgevo); in dialetto genovese: San Giorgio; in turco: Yerköy or Yergöğü; ungherese: Gyurgyevó) è un municipio della Romania con 70.041 abitanti, capoluogo del distretto omonimo nella regione storica della Muntenia.Giurgiu è il più importante posto di confine tra la Romania e la Bulgaria: la città è infatti unita alla città bulgara di Ruse da un ponte stradale e ferroviario, detto Ponte dell'Amicizia, l'unico che si trovi nel tratto del Danubio che fa da confine tra le due nazioni.
