Giant molecular clouds

Vast areas of molecular hydrogen which stretch through space for several hundred light years . They are the largest single objects in our Galaxy and can contain up to ten million solar masses of material. Isolated regions of the giant molecular cloud will have already undergone gravitational collapse, formed stars and be shining as emission nebula .
