Ghana

The Republic of Ghana is a country in West Africa. It borders Côte d'Ivoire to the west, Burkina Faso to the north, Togo to the east, and the Gulf of Guinea to the south. The word "Ghana" means "Warrior King", and was the source of the name "Guinea" (via French Guinoye) used to refer to the West African coast (as in Gulf of Guinea).

Ghana ([], früher Goldküste) ist ein Staat in Westafrika der an die Elfenbeinküste, Burkina Faso, Togo sowie im Süden an den Golf von Guinea (Atlantischer Ozean) grenzt. Ghana ist fast so groß wie das Vereinigte Königreich, mit dessen Geschichte es durch die Kolonialzeit eng verbunden ist. Der Volta-See ist der größte Binnensee des Landes und zugleich der größte vollständig künstlich angelegte Stausee der Welt. Aufgrund seiner Gebiete mit tropischem Regenwald ist eine reiche Flora und Fauna vorhanden, die auch im wirtschaftlichen Bereich zum einen durch den Tourismus, zum anderen durch Edelholzexporte von großer Bedeutung ist. Wirtschaftlich bedeutend ist Ghana aufgrund seines Rohstoffreichtums. Einer der wichtigsten Rohstoffe ist Gold, das der ehemaligen Kolonie auch den Namen „Goldküste“ gab.

La Repubblica del Ghana è uno Stato dell'Africa Occidentale con capitale Accra grande 238.540 km² con una popolazione di 21.029.853 abitanti (circa 91 per km2).
