Georgia (USA)

Georgia is a state in the southern region of the United States of America and was one of the original Thirteen Colonies that revolted against British rule in the American Revolution. It was the last of the Thirteen Colonies to be established as a colony, in 1733. It was the fourth state to ratify the United States Constitution, on January 2, 1788. It seceded from the Union on January 21, 1861 and was one of the original seven Confederate states. It was the last state readmitted to the Union, on July 15, 1870. Georgia is one of the fastest-growing states in the United States, with its population increasing from 8,186,453 in 2000 to an estimated 9,072,576 people in 2005. Georgia is also known as the Peach State and the Empire State of the South. The largest city, and capital, is Atlanta.

Georgia - stan w południowo-wschodniej części USA, największy na wschód od Missisipi. Graniczy: od północy z Tennessee, od wschodu z Karoliną Południową i Oceanem Atlantyckim, od południa z Florydą, od zachodu z Alabamą. Północna część Geogii leży w Górach Błękitnych (Appalachy). Na południe od nich rozpościera się płaskowyż Piedmont, który przechodzi w pofałdowaną Nizinę Nadbrzeżną. Pierwotnie ludność tych terenów stanowili Czerokezi i Indianie Creek.

La Georgia è uno stato degli Stati Uniti. La capitale è Atlanta, che è anche la città più popolosa. Confina a nord-ovest con il Tennessee, a nord-est con la Carolina del Nord, ad est con la Carolina del Sud, a sud-est è bagnata dall'Oceano Atlantico, a sud confina con la Florida e ad ovest con l'Alabama. Le città principali oltre ad Atlanta sono Augusta, Columbus, Macon, Rome, Savannah. Questo stato si basa quasi completamente sull'agricoltura. Quella principale è quella del cotone ma vi è anche quella del mais e del riso. Molto diffusa l'industria cotoniera grazie al basso costo della manodopera. Sviluppata molto anche l'industria della carta.
