Geoff Murphy

Geoff Murphy (born 12 October 1938) is a New Zealand film director, writer and assistant director.Murphy is best known for early New Zealand films Goodbye Pork Pie, Utu, and The Quiet Earth. Although Goodbye Pork Pie has almost iconic status in New Zealand, the later two are generally rated his best. [1]. In the 1990s he moved to Hollywood and directed several commercially successful big budget movies, before moving back to New Zealand.
