Genie (feral child)

Susan M. Wiley. (born April 18, 1957) better known as Genie was a feral child discovered by California authorities on November 4, 1970 in the Los Angeles suburb of Arcadia. she was the fourth (and second surviving) child to unstable parents, Irene and Clark Wiley. An older brother, John, also lived in the home. Her mother was partially blind due to cataracts and a detached retina, and her father (who was 20 years the mother's senior) was mentally unbalanced due to depression over his mother's death from a hit-and-run accident.

Genie is de naam van een modern wolfskind, dat op 4 november 1970 in Los Angeles werd ontdekt. Zij was geen wolfskind dat in de natuur leefde en door dieren werd opgevoed, maar een kind dat in volstrekte isolatie opgroeide als gevolg van een bizarre vorm van kindermishandeling. Kort na haar ontdekking werden er bij haar verschillende onderzoeken naar taalontwikkeling gedaan.

ג'יני (Genie) (נולדה ב-1957) הוא הכינוי שניתן לילדה שגדלה בבידוד, והתגלתה ב-4 בנובמבר 1970 על ידי הרשויות בעיירה ארקדיה שבקליפורניה. שמה האמיתי סוזן וילי (Susan Wiley). הוריה, שניהם לא יציבים מבחינה נפשית, כלאו אותה בחדרה הקטן, והיא התגלתה על ידי הרשויות רק בגיל 13.
