Gebälk
Als Gebälk bezeichnet man die Gesamtheit der Balken einer Decken- oder Dachkonstruktion. In der antiken Architektur bezeichnet Gebälk die Gesamtheit von Balken (Architrav, Epistyl), Fries und Kranzgesims (Geison, Konsolgesims). Ursprünglich war es eine Holzkonstruktion, die aber schon früh mit Terrakotten ummantelt (Antefixa) oder durch Steinbalken ersetzt wurde.
