.gb is a reserved Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the United Kingdom. Introduced at the same time as the UK's other top-level domain (.uk), it was never widely used. It is no longer possible to register under this domain.The rule in the Domain Name System is that a top-level domain for a country is derived from the corresponding two-letter code in the ISO 3166-1 list. Accordingly the correct code for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is GB, and the .gb top-level domain was therefore delegated.The pre-existing JANET Name Registration Scheme had used "UK" as a country code, so the UK also applied to Jon Postel of IANA for the .uk TLD. This was granted, and all UK domain names are now issued as .uk, rather than .gb.

.gb est le domaine national de premier niveau réservé à la Grande-Bretagne. Ce domaine de premier niveau, qui aurait dû faire autorité, s'est trouvé en concurrence avec le code .uk (pour United Kingdom). L'usage du .gb ayant décliné, il est à présent abandonné. Le dernier domaine en .gb (qui existait jusqu'en 2006) est dra.hmg.gb, qui appartenait à l'agence de recherche de la défense du gouvernement britannique.

.gb - krajowa domena internetowa najwyższego poziomu przypisana do Wielkiej Brytanii, jednak kraj ten używa domeny .uk. Domena jest administrowana przez UKERNA.Standardową zasadą w DNS jest, że krajowe domeny najwyższego poziomu mają taki zapis jak kod kraju w standardzie ISO 3166-1. Zgodnie z tą zasadą Zjednoczone Królestwo Wielkiej Brytanii i Irlandii Północnej ma kod GB i .gb powinna być krajową domeną najwyższego poziomu dla Wielkiej Brytanii. Jednak GB jest powszechnie używanym skrótem słów Great Britain (ang. Wielka Brytania), które to formalnie rzecz ujmując nie są tym samym co Zjednoczone Królestwo Wielkiej Brytanii i Irlandii Północnej (Wielka Brytania nie obejmuje Irlandii Północnej). Również w istniejącym przed erą internetu JANET Name Registration Scheme kodem kraju Zjednoczonego Królestwa Wielkiej Brytanii i Irlandii Północnej było UK. W związku z powyższym Jon Postel, jeden z ojców internetu, wystąpił do IANA o przyznanie domeny .uk dla Zjednoczonego Królestwa (od ang. United Kingdom). Prośba ta została rozpatrzona pozytywnie i obecnie używana jest domena .uk, a domena .gb nie jest wykorzystywana.
