Gay pride, LGBT pride or simply pride is the positive stance against discrimination and violence toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people to promote their self-affirmation, increase their visibility as a social group, build community, and celebrate sexual diversity and gender variance. Pride, as opposed to shame and social stigma, is the predominant outlook that bolsters most LGBT rights movements throughout the world. What’s more, pride has lent its name to LGBT-themed organizations, institutes, foundations, book titles, periodicals and even a cable TV station and the Pride Library.

Gay Pride bedeutet den selbstbewussten bzw. selbstachtenden und damit stolzen Umgang mit der eigenen sexuellen Identität. Stolz als „gegen Andere an den Tag gelegtes Selbstgefühl seines Wertes“, stolz darauf man selbst zu sein wie man ist (was Kritik an Aspekten nicht ausschließt), sich nicht vor anderen zu verstecken oder sich für andere zu verstellen und gegebenenfalls für seine Rechte einzutreten. Das Antonym ist in diesem Fall Scham im Sinne von Unwert und Schande. Es ist ein aus dem Englischem stammender Internationalismus.

La Marche des Fiertés lesbiennes, gaies, bi et trans, s'est d'abord appelée Gay Pride, puis la Lesbian & Gay Pride, puis LGBT Pride (à chaque fois revendiquant les droits d'une communauté supplémentaire) pour finalement s'appeler La Marche des Fiertés lesbiennes, gaies, bi et trans. C'est une manifestation qui prône la liberté et l'égalité pour toutes les orientations sexuelles et identités de genres (hétéro, lesbienne, gay, bi, trans). L'expression anglophone Gay Pride peut être traduite comme « Fierté gay ». D'où le nom (après maints remaniements) de « Marche des fiertés » en France. Pour faire mentir l'adage qui prétend que pour vivre heureux il faut vivre caché, les participants des diverses Marches des fiertés affichent sans complexe leurs orientations sexuelles. Ces marches sont ouvertes aux gays, aux lesbiennes, aux bis, aux trans mais aussi aux hétéros revendiquant la liberté sexuelle et l'égalité des droits entre les hétérosexuels et les autres communautés.

Christopher Street Day (z ang. Dzień Ulicy Krzysztofa, CSD, Gay Pride) – święto obchodzone przez społeczność LGBT co roku 27 czerwca na pamiątkę wydarzeń Stonewall riots, zamieszek na tle dyskryminacji mniejszosci seksualnych, które rozegrały się w 1969 r. w Nowym Jorku. Nazwa pochodzi od ulicy, przy której znajdował się pub dla gejów – 55 Christopher Street.
