Gaels

Gaelic language and culture would eventually become dominant in the Pictish area and far northern Brythonic area.]] The Gaels or Goidels are speakers of one of the Goidelic Celtic languages: Irish, Scottish Gaelic and Manx. Goidelic speech originated in Ireland and subsequently spread to western and northern Scotland and the Isle of Man.

Gaëls
Les Gaëls constituent un peuple celte originaire d'Irlande, qui a envahi les îles Britanniques au et s'est établi principalement en Écosse, en Irlande et sur l'île de Man. Il a ensuite donné son nom au différents peuples gaëliques, cousins des autres peuples celtes, et peuples guerriers. Leur langue fait partie de la famille du gaélique, une division des langues celtiques insulaires.

Гэлы
Гэлы, называемые также гаэлы, галлы, или гойделы, — группа древних кельтских племён, поселившихся в IV веке до н. э. в Ирландии.
Смешавшись с местным доиндоевропейским населением, они положили начало образованию ирландской народности. Часть гэлов в V—VI веках н. э. переселилась в Шотландию, где наряду с пиктами участвовала в формировании шотландской народности. Название «гэлы» сохранилось за этнической группой, населяющей горные районы Северной Шотландии и Гебридские острова. Численность около 100 тыс. чел. (оценка 1970). Современные гэлы в быту говорят на гэльском языке, почти все знают также английский язык. Верующие гэлы — пресвитериане и католики. Основное занятие — животноводство.

Escoto
Escoto, tribu gaélica irlandesa que se estableció en Escocia en el siglo VI. Los romanos los llamaban “Scoti” y originariamente provenían de Irlanda encabezados por el rey Fergus Mòr Mac Earca. Los escotos atacaron las islas Hébridas y la zona oeste de Escocia y establecieron un nuevo reino en el territorio de lo que hoy es Argyll, que se conoció como Dalriada.
