set of
Open System Interconnection (OSI)
data communication protocols that enables systems developed by different vendors to interoperate and enable the users of different applications on these systems to exchange
information. Note 1: The OSI protocols were developed primarily by
ISO and
CCITT. Note 2: The GOSIP is a subset of the OSI protocols and is based on agreements reached by vendors and users of computer networks participating in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Implementors Workshop. Note 3: The GOSIP is described in the latest version of FIPS PUB 146.
