A fusion genre is music that combines two or more styles. For example, rock and roll originally developed as a fusion of blues, gospel and country music. The main characteristics of fusion genres are variations in tempo, rhythm, i a sometimes the use of long musical "journeys" that can be divided into smaller parts, each with their own dynamics, style and tempo. "Fusion" used alone often refers to jazz fusion.

Fusion Music is a sub-genre of reggaeton. Calle 13 helped introduce this genre and is the most well-known band to sing it. Fusion music is also known as alternative reggaeton. Danny Fornaris is the most famous producer in this sub-genre known as its Luny Tunes. Other artists who also helped expand this genre is Audi, LG, and Voltio in the song "Vacila Como Eh", and Don Omar's "Jangueo" from his album, King of Kings.

Mais d'autres styles musicaux sont aussi parfois mêlés : funk, punk, ska, reggae, metal, etc.

Fusion är en sammanslagning av en eller flera andra musikgenrer, till exempel jazz blandad med rock blir jazzrock. Ett exempel på fusion som blandar jazz med andra genrer, som förutom rock kan vara exempelvis funk, rhythm and blues, världsmusik eller etno. Rent teoretiskt kan man alltså spela exempelvis blues-reggae fusion, även om detta aldrig skulle benämnas fusion.

Fusionsmusik er en musikstil, hvor elementer fra flere anerkendte stilarter bliver inddraget.
